Jp. Wyatt et Je. Weber, A TRANSATLANTIC COMPARISON OF TRAINING IN EMERGENCY-MEDICINE, Journal of accident & emergency medicine, 15(3), 1998, pp. 175-180
The system of training in accident and emergency (A&E) medicine in the
United Kingdom is at a critical and much earlier stage of development
than in the United States. Transatlantic comparison offers the opport
unity to explore possible ways of improving training in the United Kin
gdom. Comparison revealed deficiencies in the UK training system in th
e following: prehospital care training, formal theoretical teaching, c
lose supervision in a clinical setting, and in-service training examin
ations. Implementation of measures designed to address these deficienc
ies would enhance UK training in A&E medicine.
