Abstract
Carbon nanocapsules with SiC nanoparticles were produced by thermal de composition of polyvinyl alcohol with SiC clusters at 500 degrees C in Ar gas atmosphere. High-resolution electron microscopy also showed th e formation of carbon hollow structures such as nanoparticles, polyhed ra, and clusters. The present work indicates that the pyrolysis of pol ymer materials with clusters is a useful fabrication method for the ma ss-production of carbon nanocapsules at low temperatures compared to t he ordinary are discharge method.
