T. Coradin et al., THE MNPS3 LAYERED PHASE AS A SUBSTRATE FOR AGGREGATE FORMATION - THE EXAMPLE OF TRIARYLPYRYLIUM CATIONS, Journal of materials chemistry, 8(6), 1998, pp. 1471-1475
Intercalation of triarylpyrylium salts into the MnPS3 layered phase ha
s been achieved. The formation of J-aggregates in the interlayer space
is suggested on the basis of UV-VIS absorption and emission spectrosc
opy experiments. The extended dipole model approximation is used to de
rive structural information that appears consistent with the X-ray pow
der diffraction data. However, in contrast to previous results, none o
f the intercalates exhibit any second harmonic generation. Finally, th
e important influence of the host phase dielectric properties on aggre
gate formation is emphasized.
