The authors report the case of a very large deterged aortic valve ring
abscess detected at long-term after infective endocarditis during inv
estigation of symptomatic consequent aortic regurgitation. The differe
nt imaging methods of diagnostic import are reviewed with special emph
asis on the role of transoesophageal echocardiography during infective
endocarditis.
