Abstract
The authors report the case of subadventitial rupture of the isthmus o f the aorta due to trauma, diagnosed by transoesophageal echocardiogra phy. The role of transoesophageal echocardiography compared with conve ntional diagnostic techniques is discussed. This method of investigati on is a very good diagnostic tool in cases of closed trauma of the tho rax.
