Abstract
We present the results of modeling porous cylindrical blanks for open- die forging. We have found that for each size and type of the porous b lanks, there are optimal ratios of the initial porosity to the initial clearance between the dies which ensure both complete densification o f the blanks and a minimum amount of the material wasted as flash.
