H. Kitano et al., LIPOSOMES CONTAINING AMPHIPHILES PREPARED BY USING A LIPOPHILIC CHAINTRANSFER REAGENT - RESPONSIVENESS TO EXTERNAL STIMULI, Langmuir, 10(2), 1994, pp. 403-406
A lipophilic chain transfer reagent was prepared by coupling of N,N-di
octadecylamine with 3-mercaptopropionic acid, and telomerization of ac
rylic acid (product, DODA-S-PAA) or N-isopropylacrylamide (product, DO
DA-S-PIPA) was carried out by using the chain transfer reagent. The am
phiphiles obtained formed stable liposomes with lecithin (L-alpha-dimy
ristoylphosphatidylcholine or L-alpha-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine),
and the liposomes showed a pH-responsive (DODA-S-PAA) or temperature-
responsive (DODA-S-PIPA) release of fluorophore from inner water pool.
The lipophilic chain transfer reagent was useful to prepare amphiphil
es with various functionalities.
