K. Uchiyama et al., MEASUREMENT OF THE LIFETIME OF THE FIRST 2(-124() STATE IN BA), EUROPEAN PHYSICAL JOURNAL A-HADRONS AND NUCLEI, 2(1), 1998, pp. 13-15
The lifetime of the first 2(+) state in the nucleus Ba-124 has been me
asured by gamma-gamma coincidence recoil-distance Doppler shift method
. The Ag-109(F-19,4n)Ba-124 reaction at a beam energy of 75 MeV was em
ployed to populate excited states in Ba-124. The mean lifetime was det
ermined to be 275(12) ps using the differential decay curve method. Th
e value of B(E2;0(1)(+)--> 2(1)(+)) for Ba-124 deduced from the lifeti
me is in reasonable agreement with the prediction of the proton-neutro
n interacting boson model(IBM-2) without Pauli blocking effect.
