Abstract
This case report describes an episode of postoperative myocardial isch aemia after total oesophagectomy that was successfully treated by extr adural administration of local anaesthetic. Extension of sympathic blo ckade in this manner resolved the myocardial ischaemia and haemodynami c disturbances experienced by the patient.
