The new species Diploproctodaeum arothroni (Lepocreadiidae: Diploproct
odaeinae) is described from the tetraodontid fish Arothron hispidus fr
om Fiji. It differs from its closest relatives, D. hakofugu, D. ovifor
me and D. momoaafata, in having 42-54 ovarian lobes, a vitellarium rea
ching to the pharynx and tegmental spination reaching almost to the po
sterior extremity. A revised key to the 17 recognised species of Diplo
proctodaeum is given.
