O. Bjorneholm et al., VIBRATIONALLY SELECTIVE AUTOIONIZATION OF PHYSISORBED MOLECULAR NITROGEN, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 49(3), 1994, pp. 2001-2004
Autoionization from vibrationally resolved core excited states is demo
nstrated, using nitrogen physisorbed on graphite. The results are comp
ared to photoemission and x-ray absorption, and reveal an adsorption i
nduced elongation of the internuclear separation in the 3 sigma(g)(-1)
,final state. It is demonstrated that it is only in the case of vibrat
ionally selective excitation that the autoionization final states coin
cide with the photoemission final states.
