Abstract
It was detected through grafting onto silica that atactic poly(methyl acrylate) showed unpredictably specific retention selectivity against polycyclic compounds with pi-electrons as if molecular-shape recogniti on was performed. This specificity was discussed with retention behavi ors in several other polymer-grafted silicas and by proposing a parame ter f to evaluate the contribution of pi-pi interaction.
