H. Ihara et al., DETECTION OF UNPREDICTABLE MOLECULAR RECOGNITION THROUGH CARBONYL-PI INTERACTION IN POLY(METHYL ACRYLATE)-SILICA HYBRIDS, Polymer Journal, 30(5), 1998, pp. 394-397
It was detected through grafting onto silica that atactic poly(methyl
acrylate) showed unpredictably specific retention selectivity against
polycyclic compounds with pi-electrons as if molecular-shape recogniti
on was performed. This specificity was discussed with retention behavi
ors in several other polymer-grafted silicas and by proposing a parame
ter f to evaluate the contribution of pi-pi interaction.
