J. Madrigalmelchor et al., MANIFESTATION OF NEAR-SURFACE LOCALIZED EXCITONS IN SPECTRA OF DIFFUSE REFLECTION OF LIGHT, Physics of the solid state, 40(5), 1998, pp. 796-797
The interaction of excitons with rough surfaces and its effect on ligh
t scattering spectra were investigated theoretically. We have employed
a model for the excitonic surface potential based upon the generalize
d Morse potential, taking into account its random fluctuations produce
d by the surface roughness. Applying first-order perturbation theory,
we calculate the doss section of light scattering from a rough GaAs su
rface and analyze its frequency dependence in the presence of an extri
nsic surface-potential well with excitonic bound states. (C) 1998 Amer
