Abstract
Ionic solvation and ion pairing were studied in solutions of lithium, sodium and potassium nitrate in dimethyl sulfoxide, using ATR-FTIR spe ctroscopy. Ion-pairing constants and apparent solvation numbers were e stimated over a wide range of concentrations. Dimerization of the solv ent was taken into account. The results obtained are discussed with re spect to the electrolyte concentration and the properties of the catio ns of the electrolyte.
