We report on a 23-year old patient who suffered from a spontaneous tem
poral lobar haemorrhage. The cause of this was a previously inapparent
, congenital, combined plasmatic and corpuscular coagulopathy (von Wil
lebrand's disease and thrombocytopathy). This case report emphasises t
he significance of coagulation analysis during the diagnostic process
in nontraumatic intracerebral haemorrhage in young adults. If other ca
uses of lobar intracerebral haemorrhage have been excluded, it should
be performed even in patients with no history of bleeding diathesis.
