Abstract
Chemoselective O-methylation of substituted phenols makes place in dry tetrahydrofuran (THF) in the presence of LiOH . H2O and dimethylsulfa te (DMS). Quantitative methyl transfer from DMS preserves the atom eco nomy. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
