In this study, the optimal characterization of the minimax cylinder es
timation problem is presented. The complexity of the optimal solution
procedure is shown to be O(eta(6)), where n is the number of sampled b
oundary points. Hence, an iterative cyclic coordinate procedure is als
o developed to provide near-optimal solutions. The cyclic coordinate a
lgorithm has been tested and the results of several test problems are
provided.
