Abstract
A method for predicting permeate fluxes in laminar ultrafiltration of macromolecular solutions was proposed. The method is based on a modifi ed osmotic pressure model with the mass transfer coefficient estimated from the Leveque solution and the diffusion coefficient evaluated at the mean concentration of the concentration polarization layer. The va lidity of the method was tested by comparing predictions with experime nts. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
