Abstract
Cecil Starling O'Brien, M.D. (1889-1977), was the founder (1927) of th e Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa, and he is cre dited with the establishment of a strong department that has made many important contributions to ophthalmology. The surviving O'Brien resid ents were interviewed on videotape, and this article is a composite of their memories together with a brief biographical sketch of Dr. O'Bri en.
