Abstract
Fourteen cardiac transplant candidates were studied with cardiopulmona ry exercise testing at baseline and while breathing nitric oxide (40 p pm). Oxygen consumption at the anaerobic threshold was improved by bre athing nitric oxide in patients with pulmonary hypertension and in pat ients with an elevated left ventricular end-diastolic volume index.
