V. Madhurima et al., DIELECTRIC STUDIES OF HYDROGEN-BONDED BINARY-SYSTEMS - KETONE PLUS NITRILE, Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Physics, 36(3), 1998, pp. 144-148
The dielectric properties of the hydrogen bonded binary systems of pol
ar liquids containing ketone and nitrile functional groups are studied
. The system are: (A) acetone + acetonitrile, (B) acetone + acrylonitr
ile (C) 2 butanone + acetonitrile and (D) 2 butanone + acrylonitrile s
ystems. The dielectric dispersion of the pure binary systems and their
dilute solutions in a non-polar solvent namely benzene are studied. D
ipole moments of the binary systems are calculated from the dielectric
data using Guggenhiem's and Higasi's methods. The average relaxation
time in the pure and dilute solutions is calculated from the respectiv
e Cole-Cole plots. The dipole moment increment in the binary system ov
er the sum of the pure values shows the absence of an ionic component
to the binary conformer.
