Abstract
A general method for the calculation of various types of phase diagram s for aqueous electrolyte mixtures is outlined. It is shown how the th ermodynamic equilibrium precipitation process can be used to satisfy t he operational needs of industrial crystallizer/centrifuge units. Exam ples of simulation and optimization of fractional crystallization proc esses are shown. In one of these examples, a process with multiple ste ady states is analyzed. The thermodynamic model applied for describing the highly non-ideal aqueous electrolyte systems is the Extended UNIQ UAC model. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights rese rved.
