The spectra of gold and mercury were photographed in the 100-300 Angst
rom region on grazing incidence spectrographs at the Antigonish, Troit
sk and Gaithersburg laboratories. The source used in each laboratory w
as a triggered spark. The 5d(2)-5d6p transitions in Au X and Hg XI wer
e analysed. All nine levels of the 5d(2) configuration and eleven of t
he twelve levels of the 5d6p configuration of both spectra have been i
dentified. The only unknown level is the 5d6p P-3(0).( )38 lines in th
e 233-292 Angstrom region in Au X and 38 lines in the 200-256 Angstrom
regions in Hg XI have been classified. Hartree-Fock (HF) and Least-Sq
uare-Fitted (LSF) calculations interpret the spectra satisfactorily.
