Recent advances in supercritical fluid extraction have involved the ex
ploration of several new sorbents for solid-phase trapping during off-
line collection. This article describes some experiments using physica
l supports-such as glass beads, synthetic silica beads, and stainless
steel balls-and chemical adsorbents-such as octadecyl-and cyano-modifi
ed silica-for the collection of a set of test analytes. The authors va
ried the collection and desorption temperatures and the modifiers.
