The main topics of quantitative texture analysis are presented: (a) Wh
at is texture, how it is characterized and represented? (b) The measur
ement methods: global (X-rays and neutrons-measured poles figures) and
local (Orientacional image Microscopy). (c) Bunge's mathematical trea
tment (generalized spherical harmonics) and the ghosts' problems. The
relationship between texture, materials and processes is analyzed. The
recrystallization of a FeNi 50% alloy is discussed. The relationship
between texture and polycrystal anisotropic properties is presented an
d exemplified it with a magnetization-energy case.
