Abstract
We show the principle of operation of a setup to adiabatically shape s olitons in quadratic nonlinear media to different beam profiles and wi dths or different fractions of energy carried by the second-harmonic w ave. The shaping mechanism is based on soliton generation and propagat ion in chirped, quasi-phase-matched samples. (C) 1998 Optical Society of America.
