Abstract
The fragrances triethyl citrate, amyl salicylate and terpinyl acetate were added to lamellar liquid crystals of water and surfactants of non ionic, anionic and zwitterionic structure. The interlayer spacing was determined as a function of water content using low angle X-ray diffra ction. The location of the compound as well as its influence on the wa ter penetration into the lamellar structure were evaluated, and the re sults showed that the structure of both the surfactant and the fragran ce were decisive for these features.
