Time resolved XUV radiation of He plasmas produced by optical field io
nization in an intense laser field is studied. Fast and slow line emis
sion components generated due to different pumping mechanisms are obse
rved. It is shown that the intensities of these components can be mani
pulated by varying the laser frequency and polarization. Amplification
on the 3-2 transition (lambda = 164 nm) of He II ions is demonstrated
.
