Abstract
A theory of tunneling through a quantum dot is presented that enables us to study combined effects of the Coulomb blockade and the discrete energy spectrum of the dot. The expression for the tunneling current i s derived from the Keldysh Green's-function method, and is shown to sa tisfy automatically the conservation of de current of both junctions.
