L. Solmi et al., ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENT OF A CASE OF OBSTRUCTIVE-JAUNDICE SECONDARY TO PORTAL CAVERNOMA, The Italian Journal of Gastroenterology, 30(2), 1998, pp. 202-204
Biliary changes secondary to portal hypertension are uncommon. These p
atients do not usually present clinical or biochemical evidence of cho
lestasis. This report describes one case of obstructive jaundice due t
o portal cavernoma. The obstructive jaundice appeared in adulthood in
a patient who had developed the portal cavernoma during childhood. End
oscopic retrograde cholangiography allowed both the diagnosis and the
palliative treatment of the stenosis of the common bile duct, avoiding
risky surgical treatment.
