Abstract
Remarkable changes in the (N)CH3 stretching wavenumbers have been obse rved for amines on protonation. These C-H stretching wavenumbers are r elated linearly to the corresponding C-H bond lengths calculated by th e ab initio method. The (N)CH3 stretching bands are useful for disting uishing between free and protonated amines.
