Abstract
We have applied the quantum master equation to simulate a two-level sy stem driven by a fractal noise in a dissipative environment. The fract al noise is assumed to be a two-state process with +/-Delta and charac terized by its correlation function 1/ tau(beta) where 0 < beta < 1. s teady state absorption spectrum for the system is obtained analyticall y for a monochromatic laser excitation. A dramatic blue shift as well as a broadening of the absorption peak, due to the interference betwee n the fractal noise and the natural damping, is observed. (C) 1998 Els evier Science B.V.
