A tospovirus was detected by ELISA in a Cineraria sample from a commer
cial protected crop in the UK. Its serological properties indicated it
to be Impatiens necrotic spot virus (INSV), results confirmed by RT-P
CR tests and nucleotide sequence data on the nucleoprotein-encoding re
gion of the genome. This is the first report of the presence of INSV i
n a protected crop grown in the UK.
