Dm. Littleboy et Nk. Nichols, MODAL COUPLING IN LINEAR-CONTROL SYSTEMS USING ROBUST EIGENSTRUCTURE ASSIGNMENT, Linear algebra and its applications, 276, 1998, pp. 359-379
Eigenvalue assignment methods are used widely in the design of control
and state-estimation systems. The corresponding eigenvectors can be s
elected to ensure robustness. For specific applications, eigenstructur
e assignment can also be applied to achieve more general performance c
riteria. In this paper a new output feedback design approach using rob
ust eigenstructure assignment to achieve prescribed mode input and out
put coupling is described. A minimisation technique is developed to im
prove both the mode coupling and the robustness of the system, whilst
allowing the precision of the eigenvalue placement to be relaxed. An a
pplication to the design of an automatic flight control system is demo
nstrated. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
