Abstract
The averaged spin-spin correlation function squared <([sigma(0)sigma(R )](2))over bar> is calculated for the ferromagnetic random bond Potts model in two dimensions. The technique being used is the renormalizati on group plus conformal field theory. The results are of the epsilon-e xpansion type fixed point calculation, epsilon being the deviation of the central charge (or the number of components) of the Potts model fr om the Ising model value. Calculations are done both for the replica s ymmetric and the replica symmetry broken fixed points. The results obt ained allow for numerical simulation tests to decide between the two d ifferent criticalities of the random bond Potts model. (C) 1998 Elsevi er Science B.V.
