Abstract
A new significant structural feature of the more abundant polysacchari de (caryophyllan) of the lipopolysaccharide fraction (LPS) from Pseudo monas caryophylli is reported. In particular, the occurrence in the ca ryophyllan structure of beta-linkages, about 11%, besides the more abu ndant alpha-linkages, has been evidenced by spectroscopic investigatio n of the polymer-degraded compounds.
