Abstract
The structure of the O-specific polysaccharides of the lipopolysacchar ides produced by Hafnia alvei strains ATCC 13337 and 1187 was reinvest igated. The position of phosphate group in the repeating units of the polysaccharides was established with the aid of H-1 detected, P-31 edi ted NMR spectre. According to the results obtained, the polysaccharide s are teichoic acid-like polymers with the repeating units of the foll owing structure: [GRAPHICS] where Acyl = D-3-hydroxylbutyryl, and 3-O- acetylation was approximately 30%.
