Abstract
We present a comprehensive numerical study of electroabsorption and el ectrorefraction in quantum-well modulators. Our analysis properly inco rporates both the k.p subband matrix elements and the excitonic wave f unctions and further contains several alternative techniques for solvi ng the exciton equation. Excellent agreement with experiment is achiev ed in both the discrete and continuum regions.
