Abstract
The paper considers a mathematical model comprising a system of equati ons describing tile main features of the landscape pattern of erosion plains. These equations are derived theoretically based on an analysis of the processes of the development of these plains; they are verifie d experimentally on space survey data. The proposed model and the meth ods for the interpretation of space images based on it are almost comp letely independent of local regional climatic conditions. The numerica l laws found to govern the vertical structure of erosion plains are us ed to develop new theoretical principles for numerical interpretation.
