Antimicrobial activities of iron complexes of triphenylphosphine and t
riphenylarsine oxides are described. Synthesis, analytical data, as we
ll as IR spectre are presented. The triphenylphosphine oxide complexes
of the composition [FeX2(OPPh3)(4)][FeX4], [Fe(NCS)(3)(OPPh3)(3)], [F
e(CH3CN)(2)(OPPh3)(4)] (I-3)(2). S are generally more antimicrobially
effective than the triphenylarsine oxide complexes of the composition
[(Fe2O)-O-III(OAsPh3)(4)X-3] [(FeX4)-X-III]. S (X = Cl or Br; S = CH3C
N).
