Abstract
Washing of fabrics in laundry detergents available on the European mar ket revealed patterns of ingredient deposition that differed from thos e obtained with US detergents. Skin irritation and sensitization tests conducted on volunteers after extended home usage of clothing washed in European products under European conditions demonstrated no evidenc e of irritation or sensitization effects associated with the wearing o f the fabrics. These results are similar to the findings from earlier studies performed with US products and support the dermal safety of co mmercial laundry detergents both in Europe and the United States.
