Abstract
All-carbon poly[60]fullerene polymer was prepared in bulk quantity by using a solution-based method. The polymer is free from monomeric and dimeric [60]fullerene species, which allows an infrared spectroscopic study in an unambiguous fashion. The [60]fullerene dimer prepared acco rding to a recently reported mechanochemical method was used as a stru ctural model for the poly[60]fullerene polymer. A systematic compariso n between the infrared spectra of the poly[60]fullerene polymer, [60]f ullerene dimer and [60]fullerene is reported and discussed. (C) 1998 E lsevier Science B.V.
