Abstract
l-Amino-3-phosphonopyrroles were prepared by direct reaction between c onjugated azoalkenes and dimethyl (2-oxopropyl)phosphonate while the t reatment of conjugated azoalkenes with diethyl cyanomethylphosphonate gives 1,2-diamino-3-phosphonopyrroles or sphono-1,3a,6,6a-tetrahydropy rrolo[2,3-b]pyrroles, depending on the molar ratios of the reagents.
