Abstract
Glucocorticoids are critical in the management of chronic, noninfectio us, inflammatory diseases. Bone loss is a II-cost devastating side eff ect of these powerful medications. Glucocorticoids produce bone loss b y altering calcium metabolism suppressing gonadal hormone production, and inhibiting bone formation. Now that the mechanism of glucocorticoi d-induced bone loss is understood and effective medications are availa ble, this disease can be prevented and reversed.
