Abstract
Mitochondria, the metabolic powerhouses of the cell, can sequester and release large amounts of Ca2+. This import and export of Ca2+ helps t o adjust energy production to cellular needs. Recent advances show tha t mitochondrial Ca2+ fluxes play a major role in normal Ca2+ signaling .
