Abstract
A procedure for determining heavy metals in plant samples by electroth ermal atomic-absorption spectrometry has been developed for standard r eference samples of plant materials. Sample preparation involved the a ddition of 1% HNO3 to a plant ash portion followed by ultrasonic treat ment or shaking in a rotary shaker. The suspension obtained was analyz ed in a graphite furnace for Cd, Pb, Cu, Ni, Cr, and Mo. Operating con ditions and detection limits for these elements were given.
