The bryophyte flora of the Sierra del Maigmo (Alicante, Spain) include
s 103 taxa (5 liverworts and 98 mosses), of which 16 are new to the Al
icante province and 3 new to the southeastern part of the Iberian Peni
nsula. Ten communities are recognised; nine of these are known from ot
her areas of Spain while one is described here as new: Homalothecio se
ricei-Leptodontetum smithii ass. nova. Studies of the dynamics of the
bryophyte vegetation and of its chorology in the south-east of Spain w
ere also carried out.
