Two algorithms are presented in this paper for computing the coprime m
atrix fraction description and simultaneously extracting the greatest
common divisor from the numerator and denominator polynomial matrices
of the given transfer function matrix represented as a matrix fraction
description. As only orthogonal transformations are used, these algor
ithms are claimed to be numerically reliable.
