Abstract
McKinley and Alexander (1996) criticized the model formulation of Ku e r al. (1992) that described the use of naturally occurring U-Th series disequilibria in rock-water systems for evaluating the in situ retard ation of radionuclide migration. Many of these criticisms appear to re sult from a misunderstanding of the model development and the formulat ion of the rock-water exchange terms. We present a clarification of th e issues they have raised.
