Dk. Roy, PRODUCTION POTENTIAL OF RICE (ORYZA-SATIVA) BASED CROPPING SYSTEMS UNDER DEEP-WATER ECOSYSTEM OF NORTH BIHAR, Indian Journal of Agronomy, 42(4), 1997, pp. 570-572
An experiment was conducted during 1992-35 to find out tire most profi
table rice (Oryza sativa L.)-based intercropping system under deep wat
er ecosystem of north Bihar. Intercropping of` rice + sesame (Sesamum
indtcum L.) was the most remunerative system with net return of Rs 9.3
18/ha, rice + greengram (Phaseolus radiatus L.) and rice + jute (Corch
orus capsularis L.) fur fibre, giving net returns of Rs 6,850 sad 6,27
5.50/ha respectively and use were profitable combinations than rice fo
rage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor, L.), rice + prosomillet (Panicum miliac
eum L.) and sole crop of rice. Intercropping systems reduced weed grow
th by 30-40% and stem-border infestation by 4-11%.
