Abstract
An experiment was conducted during 1992-35 to find out tire most profi table rice (Oryza sativa L.)-based intercropping system under deep wat er ecosystem of north Bihar. Intercropping of` rice + sesame (Sesamum indtcum L.) was the most remunerative system with net return of Rs 9.3 18/ha, rice + greengram (Phaseolus radiatus L.) and rice + jute (Corch orus capsularis L.) fur fibre, giving net returns of Rs 6,850 sad 6,27 5.50/ha respectively and use were profitable combinations than rice fo rage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor, L.), rice + prosomillet (Panicum miliac eum L.) and sole crop of rice. Intercropping systems reduced weed grow th by 30-40% and stem-border infestation by 4-11%.
